Welcome home Norma!

As the post title insinuates, we have another member of the T&A family.

Our newest addition is “Norma”. She’s a normal boa constrictor imperator, the same species of our other boas. She’s just special because she’s the only normal (wild type) boa constrictor we have.

You might ask, “Why would you want a normal looking snake?”
Well, we figured out of all the snakes that we have so far, it would be nice to be able to pull one out that actually looks like something you would find in the wild.
All of our other snakes have something that makes them look different, whether that be Albinism, or a saturation of melanin.

The best part is that she came from the same breeder as Jane, and Amanda got to sort of “Pre-order” her. LOL

When we went to the NARBC show in February where we got Mary , we ran into Jane’s breeders, and knew they were expecting a litter rather soon, that had the potential to have some normals that would be possibly carrying genes that we wanted for our collection.

When at the show, Amanda told them that if they had a normal female in that litter, she wanted it. That was February 13, and Norma was born 2 weeks later on February 27, 2016.
Amanda came up with the name “Norma” for a very corny reason, because she was a normal.

Once she had her first shed, the breeders got in touch to say that they were pretty sure they had a normal female in the litter, and that she was the only normal in the entire litter! Lol

Amanda told them of course she was still interested in picking her up once she was ready for her new forever home.

It was almost exactly 1 month to the day (March 29, 2016) that Norma came home, and we realized just how tiny baby boas really are.

She went into our V-18 rack from CSerpents. She became Mary’s neighbor! 🙂

We weren’t sure what to think about Norma at first, because we knew she hadn’t been handled a whole lot since she was only a month old, but she was a pleasant surprise. She handled great, but it was a new experience realizing there wasn’t as much snake to hold on to compared to what we’ve had for so long. haha

You can check out Ragin Redtails and Exotics (Norma’s breeder) here

We have our eye on some other stuff they are producing, so you keep an eye on our blog! 🙂
That’s all, everyone give Norma a warm welcome to T&A Exotics!
