September 2017 Weighings!

Molly, a female Anery Motley Boa

If you missed August’s weighing post, go check it out here.

Bob has given us a lot of grief and some joy over his weight the past few months. We get really excited when he gains, and then he loses again and we get frustrated. This month was another frustrating month at T&A Exotics. Bob started August at 1997 g, so we hoped he would have broken 2k grams by September. No such luck, for September, Bob comes in at 1850 g or 4.1 lbs! Hope he’s going to be big enough for breeding this season.

Fatgirl, our Hypo Ball Python.

Fat Girl was doing really good on eating, until the last week of August! Then she decided she wasn’t hungry anymore! The good thing is, the week before when she did eat, she ate a decently sized meal, so it wasn’t as a dramatic thing that she didn’t eat. It’s probably thanks to that large meal, that Fat Girl started out August at 1460 g and started September at 1463 g, or 3.3 pounds! No real weight loss, but granted, there was no real weight gain either.

Jane

Jane hit a new milestone for September, and that really excited us! She was 5444 g in August, which was a really good weight. For September however, she broke our scale weighing over 5500 grams! We weighed her on the bathroom scale, and she weighs approximately 12.2 lbs! We feel really confident that she’s going to be ready for breeding season this year!

Little Man

Little Man has been eating like a champ! He shed in August, which who can blame him with all this heat? we’d want some cooler clothes too! 🙂 He started August at 1066 g and started September at 1122 g (2.75 pounds)! He’s still finding a way to put on a few grams eating a small prey size!

Mary

Mary as always is a picture perfect eater! 🙂 She started August at 2256 grams! She ate most of the month with the exception of being moved to every 2 weeks feeding now that she’s eating a bit larger prey. Mary also changed her clothes in August, guess the weight gain she’s been doing is making her clothes a bit tight! She starts out September at 2517 g (5.8 pounds) with a reasonably fresh set of clothes!

Medusa

Medusa continues to shock and awe us! It seems no matter what she eats, she finds a way to pack on the grams! She was 3157 g for August. In September, she came in at 3475 g, or 7.11 lbs! She’s getting chunky! She’s most definitely our 2nd biggest boa after Jane!

Molly

Molly is really growing up herself! She started August at 132 grams, and we haven’t adjusted her food size. For September she weighs 197 grams (6.9 oz)! She’s getting to be a little chunk!

Norma

Norma, A normal Boa
A Regular Normal Looking Boa

Norma is a bit of a shocker for us this month. We’ve seen her grow up from a tiny baby on her way to adulthood. Since she’s at a juvenile/sub-adult stage in her life, weight gain doesn’t happen as rapidly as it did when she was real small. For August Norma was 972 grams, and for September she now weighs 1137 grams (2.8 pounds)!

Pablo

Pablo was another disappointment for September. Not sure why the boy boas are losing weight, maybe they are on the prowl looking for a girl? For August Pablo was 2614 g, which was on the way to a really good weight for a male his age. However, for September, he dropped down to 2491 g, or 5.8 lbs! Maybe we can blame Pablo’s weight loss on his shed in August?

Pee Wee

Peewee, an Albino Red Tail Boa.

Pee Wee keeps slowly gaining, it just takes her longer and more food to grow than Medusa. For August, Pee Wee was 2511 g. Not a bad weight, but probably a bit undersized for a boa her age. She made a nice leap in September to 2712 g or right about 6 lbs!

Stretch

Stretch is a lesson in miracle weight gain, and it can be hard to see where she puts it all! When we brought Stretch home in December of 2016, she weighed 212 grams. In August of 2017 she weighed 755 grams, it’s now September of 2017, and she weighs 945 grams (2.1 pounds)! She even changed clothes this month too!

Measurements

We didn’t forget measurements for September, but we have to purchase a new ruler and it isn’t here yet. So this means no measurement for September. Stay tuned for measurements to resume in October!
