October 2017 weighings!

If you missed September’s weighings, go check it out here.

Bob

For September, Bob was disappointing at only 1850 g, only 4.1 lbs. Smaller than you would like to see your breeder male so close to breeding season. The only way we thought to fix the problem was feed him slighty bigger prey, and that’s exactly what we did! So for October, Bob was a much better looking 2058 g or 4.9 lbs! That’s just over 4 and a half pounds! That’s a much better weight when he’s close to be introduced to Jane’s cage!

Fat Girl

Fat Girl only ate one time in September. We can only guess she’s back on one of her trademark hunger strikes. Our hopes of one day breeding her are starting to dwindle away. For September, she weighed 1463 G, 3.3 lbs. Since she only ate one time in September, we kind of were expecting her to stay the same for October, or perhaps even lose a bit of weight. She surprised us, and actually gained a tiny bit. For October she is 1488 g, or 3.5 lbs. She’s getting close to 3 and half pounds!

Jane

If you remember, last month, Jane exceeded the weight limit on the scale we normally use to weigh everyone. That scale maxes out at 5500 grams. We then transitioned her to the bathroom scale so we could still get an approximate weight on her. In September, she was 12.2 lbs, a nice chunky weight leading into breeding season. This month when we weighed her on the bathroom scale, she weighed 13.2 lbs. She gained a whole pound in September! She’s looking really good for breeding season!

Last month, in September, Little Man was 1122 G (2.8 lbs). He’s our best eating ball python at this point, and since his chances of breeding are starting to get slim, we figure he’ll make a good pet. For October, he keeps gaining, despite eating smaller prey items than he probably could handle. He weighs, 1255 g (2.12 lbs) in October, a nice improvement from September.

Mary

Mary was our biggest disappointment in October. She started September at a whopping 2517 g, or 5.8 lbs. To be fair, she took a massive poo in September, which probably accounts for the weight loss, since she doesn’t do that very often. For October, she is 2180 g, or 4.13 lbs. She’ll soon put the weight back on, she’s one of our best eaters!

Medusa

We keep watching Medusa grow with some fascination, since she’s one of our favorite snakes because she has such a calm disposition. We’d like to see her as our “gentle giant” (as far as boa standards go) one day. For September she was 3475 g, 7.11 lbs. She didn’t disappoint in October, coming in at 3635 g, or 8 lbs!

Molly

Our smallest snake by far, Molly is starting to grow up! In September, she weighed just under 200 grams, at 197 g, or 6.9 ounces! At the end of September, we transitioned her to eating rats, and she took it with no problem! This means for October she is 231 grams, or 8.1 ounces! We expect to see her weight to make a steady climb for the foreseeable future since she’s now eating rats!

Norma

Sometimes it seems like we’ve had Norma for such a long time, and others it seems like we just picked her up a few months ago! She does look considerably smaller than most of our boas, but she’s growing fast! For September, she weighed1137 g, or 2.8 lbs! We increased her food size, and she’s really starting to gain! For October, she comes in at 1434 g or 3.3 lbs!

Pablo

Our boys didn’t disappoint us this month! For September, Pablo was 2491 g, or 5.8 lbs! He ate good in September, sheddind once, and never missed a meal. This means for October, he comes in at 2595 g, or 5.12 lbs! He’s so close to 6 pounds!

Pee Wee

It’s safe to say that Medusa has left PeeWee in the dust on the weight race! 🙂 PeeWee doesn’t let that bother her, and takes the slow and steady approach to weight gain. For September, she was 2712 g, right at 6 lbs! For October, she continues her slow weight gain, and comes in at 2997 g, 6.10 lbs! She’s close to breaking that 3k gram mark!

Stretch

Stretch did not have a good month of September, she refused a couple of times for a variety of reasons, so she didn’t gain as much as we would have liked. The bright side, is that she didn’t lose! For September, Stretch was 945 g, or 2.1 lbs! In October, after her refusals, she came in at 983 g, or 2.3 lbs! We are hoping for a better October for her!
